10 Sept 51 Hello Little lady- Again I wonder if I don't at least owe you one letter more, I can report tonight that the eleven silk scarfs going in the mail tomorrow or next day totals 60 sent. I also saw a couple of the filmy kind for more formal wear. I thought you might know what to do with them. The local store brought these out. The handkerchiefs possibly will not turn out as well. The only thin I see is a bit large and of an unusual pattern, if I have some doubts I hope that you don't. The Bishopric sent a nice letter, yesterday I received it. Makes it seem like home. and when I see the scented sandalwood Japanese fans for .504 it is tempting. To send one along for each little lady. You remember the scented wood animals from India, the fans are made of this same wood. For the men maybe a set of chop sticks would be useful but probably only a joke actually. There may be some thing nice I can air mail home to get it to you soon. This would be easier with silk as it is very light. Making the most of the minutes I have to write tonight it seems this should get funnier as it goes along, but it also would have to be oftener if it is funny, so I guess it will have to be oftener first and funnier next. Anyway every time I hear something about getting caught in the draft somebody shoots off a gun and I can't hear that old joke about the draft board. or administrative assistant for the Squadron Commander. Will be handling the job by myself soon, have been working under the man I replace to learn a few pointers. I am sorry I have not been able to gain any satisfaction from Hart about his daughters' care. Perhaps you will be able to begin some course of action to clear it up as I can see so little help from his direction. His plan to have his brother write and accept her in his family is the best if it will only work out. Perhaps now you will have heard something before I do and I would be very thankful if you do. We have a lot of decorative items in these shops over here that seem to be popular here but I fear are rather useless, so I only look for things worthwhile, I think that will be what you would want. If you could only see how hard these people struggle to make a living, and seem to barely exist. It would be quite a sight for you to see. The days are so busy for me that days go by quickly and that is good as the days are being counted at home and here, too. So the shorter the better. I hope Elizabeth can be patient now for a while more and the waiting will be finished. So bye now our I'll write again soon, Love Don
