PRESIDENT’S OFFICE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
P.O. BOX B Salt Lake City, Utah. Sept. 26, 1901.
Hon. David Eccles,
Ogden. Dear Brother David;-
I returned home from my northern trip after an absence of a little over three weeks, and found on the 23rd inst awaiting me your letter of August 27th relative to taking stock in the new sugar factory at Logan. This being the first opportunity I have had to acknowledge its receipt, I hasten to say that I would be glad to take the amount of stock offered me if I can find it in my power to do so. The thing that seems to be an obstacle at present in the way of my doing so is the securities on which to raise the money. If I had the assurance of the stock to hypothecate for the loan I would perhaps be able to raise the means. However I hope you can give me until the first of next month to make such arrangements as I can, and in the meantime I may be able to see you or Charley and talk the matter over with you. Can you give me the time? If not, please let me know at once, and I will give you a direct answer.
Wishing you and all your many enterprises continued success, and with kindest regards to all, I am, Respectfully yours,
Jos. F. Smith
