I wired you from New York, Tuesday the 24th inst. , to know if I could meet you to take up the matter of rates on materials for the Raymond Sugar Factory, but as you were so very busy that day you preferred me to delay my visit two or tree days and I concluded I would write you as I had to return home immediately.
I find In talking with Messrs. Dyer of Cleveland, Ohio, who will oonstruct the factory if we decide to build it, that it will require about 500,000 lbs;. of cement and about 400,000 lbs. of fire brick. The rate you made on that class of material, 57 per 100 lbs., makes it almost prohibitory. All railroads make a very low rate on that class of material, as you will see the regu-lar rate San Fransico or Portland to Ogden, Utah or Salt Lake City, Utah, common points, is
