I received yours of the 3rd, with the enclosed copy of the stipulations for settlement with Mr. McCourt, which seems all right. Of course, the details of tills are in your hands, and I would certainly think from all the talk and correspondence that has been had upon this matter, that it will go through in the way it has been outlined. I feel entirely satisfied that Mr. McCourt will do everything in justice to carry out the compromise as outlined, and think that Mr. Sharp and Mr. Lafferty of the Field department will do the same.
