Ca. 26 December 1918 FD 3 Thomas Reese Dee (1873-1894) – 4 Items Photo 1 Thomas Reese Dee was the oldest child of Thomas D. Dee and Annie Taylor Dee. This portrait was taken by H.H. Thomas Studio in Ogden about the time that Thomas D. Dee was first elected city Alderman. Thomas Reese Dee’s Death from complications of surgery performed at Home had a far reaching impression on his family. Ca. 1885 Photo 2 Thomas Reese Dee was photographed with an unknown family friend by H.H. Studio in Ogden. Ca. 1890 Photo 3 This photograph of Reese taken at the Thomas Studio in Ogden was the last formal portrait made before his death in 1894. During the time of this picture, Reese was employed by First National Bank of Ogden. Dee and Annie Taylor Dee. This photograph was taken by H.H. Thomas Studio of Ogden and was taken the same time that Thomas D. Dee was elected City Alderman. ca. 1885 Photo 2 Annie Maude Dee married Richard B. Porter on 11 August 1902; this photograph was taken about that time. Aunt Maude and Uncle Dick were special favorites to the grandchildren because they had no children of their own. Photo 3 Annie Maude Dee Porter was involved in numerous civic and cultural societies in Ogden during this period. According to her family this was her favorite photograph because it reflected the image of means and culture and because it was one of the most flattering poses. ca. 1930 Photo 4 Richard B. Porter was the husband of Annie Maude Dee Porter. During more than 50 years as a leader of commerce and business in Ogden, he served as Postmaster, manager of the Thomas D. Dee Investment Company, director of the Utah Canning and Utah Construction Companies. ca. 1930 Photo 5 Annie Maude Dee Porter was a very effective organizer and Served as director of the Dee Memorial Hospital and later of the McKay- Dee Hospital. She was a director in Ogden for the American Red Cross During World Wars I and II. Aunt Maude as she was known to her Family, was also active in the Ogden Ladies and Literary Society, the Martha Society and other civic groups. ca. 1945 FD 5 Mary Elizabeth Dee Shaw (1878 – 1960) – 5 Items Photo 1 Mary Elizabeth Dee was the second daughter of Thomas D. Dee Annie Taylor Dee. This photograph was taken by H.H. Studio in Ogden during the time that Thomas D. Dee was elected city Alderman. ca. 1885 Photo 2, 3 Mary Elizabeth Dee married Ambrose A. Shaw on 9 December 1903. Aunt Betty, as she was known to the family was very active in the Dee Company, the 10th Ward Relief Society, as well as many other civic groups. Ca.1887 Photo 2 Edith May Dee married Glen Mack on 10 July 1901 and had three children: Glenn Dee, Duncan Wade, and Harold James. On 9 November 1916 Edith married Claude Green. Dee and Annie Taylor Dee. She was born and raised in Ogden, Utah and was the only daughter to attend college. In 1908, about the time of this photograph, Florence married George S. Barker. This is the earliest photograph of Rosabelle and was Taken by H.H Thomas Studio, Ogden, Utah. ca. 1890 Photo 2 Rosabelle Cora Dee married Joseph F. Barker in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 21, 1910. Joseph Barker started working with the Utah Canning Company in 1918 and later became president and general manager. Barker. ca. 1930 FD 10 Lawrence Taylor Dee (1891-1977) – 12 Items Photo 1, 2 Lawrence Taylor Dee was the youngest child of Thomas D. Dee and Annie Taylor Dee. When his oldest brother, Thomas Reese died in 1894, Lawrence became the only surviving son. ca. 1892 Photo 3, 4 These photographs were taken at the H.H. Dee was leaving Ogden to attend Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Although it was very difficult for Annie T. Dee to send her only surviving son away to school, especially after the death of her husband, the business education ‘Laurie’ would receive was important. ca. 1910. Photo 9, 10 After graduating from Ogden Public schools, Lawrence attended Cornell University. This portrait, taken in Ithaca, NY was sent to Annie Dee in 1914 to announce his graduation. The economic degree from Cornell was a good foundation for Lawrence in overseeing many of the family business ventures. Photo 11 Following his marriage to Janet Teller in 1915, Lawrence was involved with the family businesses. In 1918, he was commissioned 1st Lieutenant in the Signal Service, aviation section in San Antonio, Texas. Later, Lt. Dee was assigned to the Spruce Production Division in Vancouver, Washington. Elizabeth was the wife of Thomas Hill Dee and the mother of Thomas Duncombe Dee. James Leech Dee was the older brother of Thomas Duncombe Dee. James Emigrated with the Dee family to Utah in 1860. After the Taylor Family emigrated to Utah in 1860, Mary Taylor married William Wilson. Her pet name was Aunt Polly. The photograph was taken by C.R. Taylor in September 1855 following the death of Anne Sanders Taylor. She became the stepmother to Annie Taylor Dee. ca 1890 Photo 3 John Taylor’s Tailor Shop in Salt Lake City, Utah Sepia print of John Taylor who was the father of Annie Taylor Dee. He and his family emigrated from Britain in 1860. Dedication on the reverse side reads, “W.A. Taylor, to Miss Maude Dee, September 17, 1890, accept this small token of an Uncle’s love.” William Albert Taylor was the youngest son of John P. Taylor and Ann Faulkner Taylor. He was recognized for his expertise as a surgeon, but is better known for his guidance in the conception and building of the Dee Memorial Hospital. By the time of his death in 1922, the hospital had Become a model health care facility. Following the death of her husband, Thomas D. Dee, Annie Taylor Dee sought Dr. Joyce’s advice on this and other community projects. FD 15 Dee Family Residences Photo 1 First Dee Home in Ogden, Utah This photograph was taken of the old Dee family home on 22nd Street and Wall Avenue just prior to its demolition. Thomas and Annie Taylor Dee moved into this home following their marriage in 1871. It would have been uniquely designed so that each of the married children of Annie Taylor Dee would have private and communal living space. This was the favorite gathering place for the rapidly increasing posterity. Rolapp officially laid the cornerstone. Annie T. Dee had been personally responsible for the idea and funding of this model health care facility.
