Weber State University Brick Wall

The Weber State University Oral History Program began conducting interviews with key Weber State University faculty, administrators, staff and students, in Fall 2007. The program focuses primarily on obtaining a historical record of the school, along with important developments since the school gained university status in 1991. The interviews explore the process of achieving university status, as well as major issues including accreditation, diversity, faculty governance, changes in leadership, curricular developments, etc.

Candadai Seshachari discusses his background in India, his degrees and specialization in American Studies, and his several decades of service at Weber State as a professor of English. The interview took place on February 20, 2008.

Yasmen Simonian discusses her education and background, her time at Weber State as faculty and as Dean of the Dumke College of Health Professions, and her teaching philosphies and plans for her college. The interview took place on June 29, 2015.

Robert B. Smith served as vice president for the Academic Affairs office of Weber State University from 1981 to 1996 and was instrumental in the institution's transition from a college to a university. Smith recounts his experiences with the university, including changes that were made in computing, diversity, night school programs, graduate studies, and the university's general organization. The interview took place on May 31, 2011.

Tom Van Cleave discusses his memories of attending Weber as a student as well as his career at Weber State University, retiring in 2011 as the Director of Planned Operations. The interview took place on May 29, 2013.

Gloria Z. Wurst discusses her career at Weber State as faculty in the Zoology department, beginning in 1978, and her involvement with the Women's Studies program. The interview took place on October 17, 2007.

Michael Wutz discusses his experiences at Weber State beginning in 1992, and his teaching philosophies as a professor of English. The interview took place on May 15, 2014.

The following is an oral history interview with Dr. Sam Zeveloff, conducted on June 23, 2021, in the Stewart Library, by Marina Kenner. In this interview, Sam discusses his life, his experiences, and his time serving as a professor of Zoology at Weber State University.
