Latter-Day Saints

Curtis Marshall discusses his experiences working for the American Pack and Provision Company during the Depression, and his experiences as a bishop for the LDS Church. He and Mrs. Marshall also discuss the importance of saving and avoiding debt, entertainment during the Depression and currently, and the need to encourage young people to work and save. The interview took place circa 1960s.

Leland Monson shares his memories as a student at Weber College from 1922 to 1924, and as a faculty member from 1926 to 1968 during which time the institution had become Weber State College. Monson describes his involvement with debate, civic affairs, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Brad H. Paul and Mrs. Paul discuss the difficulty of running a store during the Depression; they also comment on activity in the LDS Church. The interview took place circa 1960s.

A. George Raymond discusses the Logan, Utah temple and its symbolism. He also talks about his experiences he's had while being actively engaged in his religious and community responsibilities. The interview took place on February 27, 1973.

Mae Reeder discusses her life experiences, including her marriage just out of high school during the Great Depression, and her position on the State Board of Mental Health for 11 years. The interview took place on March 2, 1998.

Anthony Russell describes teaching at the Weber High School during the Depression and struggling to continue his education at the Agricultural College in Logan. He describes high school teachers sponsoring students and paying for their books, even as the students brought produce to school to sell at a discount to the teachers. He also talks about working for the California Packing Company during the summers, federal programs working on schools and the watershed, the impact of the Depression on the LDS Church, and educating his children. The interview took place circa 1960s.

Ruth Sitton discusses her experiences as a young mother, and the corrupt police force in Twin Falls, Idaho. The interview took place on March 6, 1998.

Carl Storey discusses his life, his knowledge of North Ogden history, and his involvement with the North Ogden 9th Ward. The interview took place on January 7, 1975.

Norborn "Skip" Tabata discusses his life and experiences, including his memories of World War II. He was the only civilian on a Japanese Service basketball team, and shares his memories of learning of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The interview took place on February 12, 1971.

George Theron Taggart discusses his family's involvement with Morgan County, Utah and his memories of the area. The interview took place on February 2, 1972.
