World War II, 1939-1945

The following is an oral history interview with JC Robinson, conducted on July 6, 2017 in his home, by Alyssa Chaffee. JC discusses his life and his memories involving World War II. Sara Kamppi, the video technician, and JC's wife Carrie were also present during this interview.

Irwin Ruth describes his experiences in communications as a telegrapher for Western Union and others during the early 1900s, and his work as a train dispatcher for the railroads, particularly Southern Pacific. He describes a train robbery, his experiences in France and Belgium during World War I, and the increase in railroad traffic during World War II. He also discusses labor/management issues. The interview took place on July 14, 1974.

Frank Satterwhite discusses his experiences in Ogden and at Hill Air Force Base, beginning during World War II. He worked for the Army Air Corp and shares his memories of the Porters and Waiters Club. The interview took place on January 23, 2014.

Elsie Okamoto Shiramizu discusses being placed in a Japanese internment camp with her family after Pearl Harbor. She also talks of her time at the Dee School of Nursing and her volunteer work. The interview took place on July 22, 2008.

Ruth Simmons shares her memories of growing up in South Carolina and her travels with her husband while he was in the air force. She also discusses her experiences in Utah and with religion. The interview took place on March 3, 1998.

Erika Schilef Sisneros talks about her recollections and experiences of her life in Poland and Germany during World War II. The interview was conducted in March 2008.
