Ogden (Utah)

Amanda Widdison describes the hardship of being a widow with nine children during the Depression. Her son was able to take over her husband's mail route to support the family. She discusses the garden, chicken, cows, and pigs they had to supplement the food supply, and briefly describes holidays and LDS ward and community entertainment. The interview took place circa 1960s.

Grace Locke Willard, a 1951 graduate of the Dee School of Nursing, shares her memories of her fellow nursing students and hospital interns. The interview took place on July 31, 2008.

Mayor Wolthius discusses what was essentially a volunteer position in a mayor-council form of government in Ogden, in which the mayor is elected by other council members and essentially has no more power than a council member. He discusses urban renewal and architectural preservation, the benefits of Hill Air Force Base, his hopes that the federal government will locate a space station there, mineral industries near the Great Salt Lake, and the need for city government to respond to minority pressures due to the Civil Rights Movement. The interview took place on February 19, 1971.

Jean Graham Woodfield, a 1945 graduate of the Dee School of Nursing, shares her recollections and experiences of nursing school. The interview took place on August 5, 2008.

Raymond S. Wright discusses his experiences as an LDS bishop and as an employee in the engineering department of the Southern Pacific Railroad during the Depression. He describes helping needy people, ward programs to provide employment, food, and clothing, and efforts at the railroad to keep people employed. The interview took place circa 1960s.

Gloria Z. Wurst discusses her career at Weber State as faculty in the Zoology department, beginning in 1978, and her involvement with the Women's Studies program. The interview took place on October 17, 2007.
